About

It all started when I realized…

something was missing.

As a journalist, I made it my mission to give voice to the voiceless. But it always felt incredibly one-sided. I couldn’t intervene. I couldn’t change anything. I couldn’t make it better. As a therapist, I have been given the ability and honor to take my love of stories one step further. I am no longer merely sharing battle scars; I am co-creating new beginnings.

Keepin’ It Real/My Therapeutic Style:

My current clients have coined the term “compassionate challenging” to describe my way of showing up in the therapy space. This essentially means, I will call you on your stuff. But, I’ll do it with nothing but profound care for you. It’s a balancing act: I believe in you. You feel it. But I will push you to step into mindful discomfort in order to grow. Evolution, baby.

I’m in the business of story-shaping. I believe we become the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves. I also believe that people are not defined by their problems. Are you stuck in a troubled tale that feels disempowering or defeating? Let me be your co-author in creating your counter story: a one-of-a-kind narrative that feels like coming home after a long time away.

Passion populations & Specializations:

I specialize in serving the LGBTQ+ community in KC (and each multifaceted identity under the sexual-and-gender-minority umbrella). This is my passion population, and I am both honored and humbled to walk alongside you on your journey toward self-awareness and self-acceptance.

I also have specialized training with:

  • Couples looking to rewrite their communication script and explore all things emotional and physical intimacy (All couples are welcome: traditional, nontraditional and everything in between.)

  • Women struggling with self-worth and externalizing their innermost truth

  • Teens working to keep their heads above water with school, parents, relationships, etc.

  • Sex Therapy for individuals and/or couples looking to de-stigmatize talking about their sex lives and how to make them more satisfying

FELLOW HUMAN:

In my free time, I enjoy writing, reading and watching suspenseful stories, jamming out to Elder Emo music, running around with my two tiny humans and Mini-Aussie, acting as an amateur foodie and navigating my own messy, magical journey of self-love.

Education:

  • Master of Science from Kansas State University

  • Bachelor of Journalism from University of Missouri-Columbia

  • Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Missouri-Columbia

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for the time we spent together. I really feel like I am the best version of myself that has existed so far, and I know that you helped me get here. I’m grateful for you. You are having an incredible impact on the people you serve.
